A case of mosaicism in the germinal line of Odontophrynus americanus (Dùmeril et Bibron. 1841) JBAG
Salas,Nancy; Martino,Adolfo.
The cytogenetic studies have special importance in the zoological research because by means of karyotype analysis they contribute to the identifi cation of different entities, facilitate the evaluation of the proximity or relationship degree among certain species and fi nally they contribute with fundamental data to the phylogenetic assessment (Schmid et al., 1985; Zampieri et al., 2004). The occurrence of polyploidy in different anuran families that appear as cryptic species highlights the importance of the cytogenetic study at the population level (Valetti et al., 2009).

Autotetraploid Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) obtained using normal diploid eggs: induction and impact on cytogenetic stability ArchiMer
Benabdelmouna, Abdellah; Ledu, Christophe.
We describe two methods of producing viable and fertile autotetraploid Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas Thunberg) based on the use of normal-sized oocytes produced by normal diploid females. Our methods showed that the oocyte size is not a limiting factor for the success of the induction to autotetraploidy. These methods offer means of direct introgression of genetic progress from elite diploid lines to tetraploids used as broodstock, avoiding a triploid step with the risk of transferring undesirable traits from highly fecund triploids. High variability in the level of cytogenetic stability was found among the different tetraploid oysters tested showing that induction method has an important impact on the long-term cytogenetic stability of the...

The bush dog (Speothos venaticus) is a South American canid, included in the IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) official list of animals threatened with extinction, in the vulnerable category. As a preservation and conservation strategy, specimens kept in captivity by Brazilian Institutions are monitored by a management plan. In order to characterize and analyze the genetic variability of bush dog specimens, a cytogenetic analysis was carried out, and microsatellite data were also obtained through the use of 15 primers, originally developed for the domestic dog (Canis familiaris). All tested primers showed transferability and amplified fragment sizes similar to those described for the canine genome. From the total...
